Filing a backflow test report to Tacoma Water
Where it goes
The return address is printed on Tacoma Water's own test report form: email it to backflow@tacoma.gov, or post it to the Water Quality Section, Water Division, PO Box 11007, Tacoma, WA 98411-0007.
The owner gets a copy too, whatever route the purveyor's copy takes. WAC 246-292-034(4) names both recipients and one test produces both — the statewide rules are here.
By when
Tacoma Water publishes no filing deadline, and neither does the state. WAC 246-290-490(3)(g) makes the time frame part of each purveyor's own programme rather than a statewide number.
Neither the form nor the completion instructions state one. The form's footer says only that reports must be submitted in accordance with Tacoma Water guidelines.
We would rather tell you we did not find one than print a figure you might plan around.
What Tacoma Water wants about your test kit
The form carries the calibration date, make, model and gauge number, and the tester certifies having used approved test equipment.
The twelve month interval itself is a state rule, WAC 246-292-034(6)(a)(i), and it runs to the test date rather than the filing date. We will email you before yours lapses, free.
Worth knowing
An electronic signature is not enough on its own. Tacoma Water's completion instructions say: “Electronic/digital signatures will only be accepted after original signatures are submitted to Tacoma Water. The electronic/digital signature must match the signature on file.” WAC 246-292-034(4) accepts an electronic format statewide; Tacoma adds a precondition on top of it, and a first report signed electronically will not land.
