My backflow test notice from City of Mission: what do I do, and by when?
The rule
Within 30 days of the test. Source: Water Bylaw No. 6244-2023, s.4.8(e).
Worth knowing: If a report is missing, the Engineer may require it within 7 days of a notice (s.4.8(f)(i)). A fine of up to $10,000 on summary conviction. Bylaw s.4.8(e) re-read 3 Oct 2026, same wording.
What to do, in order
- Find the date that starts the clock: the day of the test. The clock does not start until the test is done.
- Book a certified backflow tester for every device listed on the notice.
- Make sure the tester's report reaches City of Mission (iservices@mission.ca) inside the window. Keep a copy.
