Halifax backflow test deadline
Within 7 days of the test. That is Halifax Water's rule (Nova Scotia), quoted below from its own documents. We do not file there; this is the rule, so you can date your buildings against it.
The rule, in Halifax Water's words
“A Customer shall submit a report in a form approved by the Commission respecting all tests performed pursuant to subsection (4) on a BFP device within 7 days of a test,”

“Beginning November 1, 2021 , all test reports for backflow assemblies for the Halifax Water service area will only be accepted via BSI Online at www.bsionline.ca .”
Halifax Water, Preventing water contamination
Where it goes: Since 1 November 2021 Halifax Water accepts test reports only through BSI Online, at $15.95 a device.
How often: Annually, or at other intervals the Commission requires.
Worth knowing: Halifax Water's 2023 Design & Installation Manual says 30 days; the Regulations, the binding instrument, say 7, and we print 7.
What happens next
- Have each device tested by a tester certified where the building is, annually, or at other intervals the Commission requires.
- Get the report to Halifax Water inside the window — reports go through BSI Online. Keep the confirmation.
