Seattle backflow test deadline
Proof of a passing test within 30 days of SPU's original notice — after that SPU charges $105 per backflow preventer. That is Seattle Public Utilities's rule (Washington), quoted below from its own documents. We do not file there; this is the rule, so you can date your buildings against it.

Where it goes: The tester enters the report in SPU's SAMS Tester Portal; the old report inbox closed on 17 August 2026.
How often: Annually.
Worth knowing: SPU publishes no report deadline counted from the test. The 30 days are counted from its notice, and missing them costs money rather than breaking a bylaw.
What happens next
- Have each device tested by a tester certified where the building is, annually.
- Get the report to Seattle Public Utilities inside the window — reports go through the SAMS Tester Portal. Keep the confirmation.
