What a backflow test costs in BC
A backflow test has two costs: the tester's fee for the test itself, which testers set and authorities do not publish, and in some places a filing fee the authority or its portal charges for each report. These are the filing fees BC authorities publish:
- The City of Vancouver: $30 per report through BSI Online, charged to the tester and set in the by-law (Schedule H).
- The City of New Westminster: $30 per report through BSI Online.
- The City of Port Coquitlam: $30 for each City form, which the tester buys.
- The City of Richmond: $29.00 per report in 2026 (a fee-paid decal), plus 2% by card.
- The City of Kamloops: $10 per report, plus a data-entry fee on email or paper filings.
- The Resort Municipality of Whistler: $10 for each passed report submitted through FAST; failed reports are free.
- The Regional District of North Okanagan: a $22 per-report data-entry fee for anything not submitted through FAST.
Authorities not listed here publish no filing fee we have read. A failed device adds a repair and a retest. Our own prices are on the pricing page; we do not publish a market rate for testing because no authority does, and a figure we cannot source is one we will not print.
